To mark the 250th anniversary of US independence, the US Treasury is considering issuing a special $1 coin bearing Donald Trump’s likeness and the inscription “fight, fight, fight”.
The phrase refers to the words Trump shouted just after surviving an assassination attempt during the 2024 presidential campaign.
US Treasurer Brandon Beach unveiled a first draft of the coin on X, writing: “No fake news here. These drafts honouring America’s 250th birthday and [Trump] are real.”
Politico noted that in 2020, during his first term, Trump signed a bipartisan law authorising the Treasury Secretary to issue a special $1 coin in 2026 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, which was signed in 1776.
Since returning to the White House, the president’s approval ratings have fallen, largely due to his hard-line stance toward federal institutions, increased tariffs, and tighter access to healthcare.
