Spotify has reached the milestone of 700 million users globally, including 281 million paying subscribers.

The Swedish streaming giant reported a total of 713 million users in the third quarter of the year, with its number of premium subscribers rising to 281 million.

The company is in great shape. We’re moving faster than ever and now have all the key levers, from pricing and product innovation to operational efficiency and, ultimately, the growth of our advertising business, to drive both revenue growth and profit expansion,” said founder and outgoing CEO Daniel Ek in a statement.

Spotify aims to reach 745 million active users and 289 million premium subscribers by the end of the year.

Ek recently announced he will step down as CEO on 1 January 2026, handing over the role to Alex Norström, currently Chief Business Officer, and Gustav Söderström, Chief Product and Technology Officer. However, Ek will remain with the company in a different capacity.
