Snapchat has announced that it will begin charging users for storing older photos and videos.

Since 2016, the app has allowed users to save and store content through its Memories feature. However, the company recently confirmed that anyone with more than 5GB of saved content will soon have to pay a monthly fee to keep it.

The announcement has sparked anger among users, who accused the company of greed. Snapchat defended the decision, arguing that the fee is justified.

These changes will allow us to continue to invest in making Memories better for our entire community,” the company said in a blog post.

Users who already exceed the 5GB limit will need to start paying a monthly charge to retain their content.

Snap also stressed that the majority of users will not be affected, as most have not reached the storage limit.
