Apple has warned it could stop selling its products in Europe unless a controversial law is repealed.

The US tech giant has long opposed the European Digital Markets Act (DMA), a set of measures introduced by the EU to curb the dominance of Big Tech and encourage competition. The law requires Apple and other major firms to open up their platforms to allow smaller companies to compete.

Apple argues that European users are already seeing reduced functionality or delayed access to new features compared with the rest of the world. The company also claims the legislation poses security risks.

The warning comes as the European Commission carries out its first review of the DMA’s effectiveness. Apple insists it has found no way to comply with the law without compromising user data.

It’s become clear that we can’t solve every problem the DMA creates. Over time, it’s become clear that the DMA isn’t helping markets. It’s making it harder to do business in Europe,” the company said.
