Meta and Apple are reportedly close to reaching settlements in two EU antitrust cases, as tensions continue to rise between American tech giants and Europe.

The two companies are finalising the last details of agreements to change their business practices, after the EU imposed fines totalling €700 million for violations of the Digital Markets Act.

The potential settlements come as Donald Trump has threatened retaliatory measures against countries that “discriminate” against American firms.

The EU recently fined Meta €200 million over its “pay or consent” model, which forces users to either agree to data tracking or pay for an ad-free experience.

Several EU officials told the Financial Times that a resolution could be reached soon, although the initial proposals put forward by the companies were deemed insufficient.

Apple has already announced changes to its App Store policy in June, following an EU investigation into restrictions that prevented app developers from offering customers options outside the platform.
