The Taliban spokesperson has firmly rejected Donald Trump’s demand to regain control of Bagram air base.

The Taliban, who have ruled Afghanistan since the withdrawal of US troops in 2021, have, however, discussed the possible reopening of the Afghan embassy in Washington D.C. and the US embassy in Kabul.

Afghans will never allow their land to be handed over to anyone under any circumstances,” said Zabihullah Mujahid in an exclusive interview with Sky News.

The Taliban have been in power for more than four years, but only Russia has officially recognised their government. Mujahid explained, however, that many nations privately acknowledge the Taliban.

It is not only Russia that has openly recognised the Islamic Emirate. There are several other countries that have extended recognition, though not publicly,” he explained.

The International Criminal Court, based in The Hague, Netherlands, has issued arrest warrants for two senior Taliban leaders, including Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada, who is accused of persecuting women and girls.
