Donald Trump has suggested to Keir Starmer that the British Army should be used to curb illegal immigration.
The American president, who was in London this week on a state visit, discussed the issue with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and highlighted the measures he had implemented to halt illegal immigration during his own term.
“You have people coming in, and I told the prime minister I would stop it and it doesn’t matter if you call out the military, it doesn’t matter what means you use,” Trump said during a joint press conference.
During the press conference, the two leaders were also questioned about the situation in Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and the energy sector.
The two countries also announced a new technology agreement aimed at giving the allies a dominant position in the field of artificial intelligence, according to the US president.
On the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for more than three years, Trump said he was disappointed by Vladimir Putin’s conduct and urged Western nations to stop buying Russian gas and oil.
